This festival carries a great significance in hindu religion as the day marks the birth of Lord Rama. However, this is a long story short. We may celebrate Ram Navami every year, the less we know the true story behind this day. Ram Navami is a day of celebration of Lord Rama’s birth that falls on 9th day of Hindu lunar year. Or you may be familiar with “Chaitra Sukla paksha Navami”. Birth of Lord Rama had a reason and purpose on the earth. Lord Rama was the purest avatar or doppelganger of Lord Vishnu. He had to take birth on earth in the form of Lord Rama to battle the invincible Ravana.
The circumstances were created as Lord Brahma gave boon to Ravana. The evil spirt was blessed that he will not die by hands of any almighty entity, god, demons, rishis and gandharvas. But he can die from the hands of an ordinary man. However Lord Rama had to be born as an ordinary man on earth. Therefore he took birth as the elder son of King Dashrath & Queen Kausalya of Ayodhya.
Thereafter, when Lord Rama was exiled along with his brother Lakshman and wife Sita. He went to the jungle for 14 years. During the period of exile he had to destroy the evil being of Sri Lanka. The rest is the big history witnessed by hindu religion, today as we know the epic story of good over evil called Ramayana. The events were recorded by Vaalmeeki in around 200 BC.
It is believed that Lord Rama drowned himself in water. Since his purpose on earth was fulfilled after killing Ravana and coming back to his dynasty with his wife and brother. That caused the celebration of light which we today known as diwali.
Moreover the story of Ram Navami directly connects to the biggest festival of India. Therefore, from the day of Ram Navami, Ravana’s death was written and the victory of good over evil became the tale to tell to everyone.
Happy Ram Navami everyone, may this day empowers you with light, happiness and greatness to achieve big things in life.
